General Information

Date: 29th Feb, 1st & 8th March, 2008 (Friday and Saturday)

Place: Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH), SUN-U

Time: 29th Feb - 5.45pm - 10pm. 1st & 8th March - 7.45 a.m. – 7.00 p.m.

Participants: Limited to 64 entries per event on a first come first served basis

Participation Fee : RM 15 per person per event

Closing date for registration: 22th Feb, 2008

Date of Draw: 26th Feb, 2008. 6pm @ Sunway Student Service Department (SSD)

2.0 Eligibility

2.1 Open only to all Colleges and Universities students.
2.2 Full-time and Part-time students are eligible to participate.
2.3 National players are not eligible to participate.
2.4 Player’s Student Cards/ID will be checked at the point of reporting to the officials’ counter. Student cards / ID must be valid and original. Players who fail to produce their original & valid Student card / ID shall be disqualified.
2.5 A maximum of 64 entries per event and acceptance is on a first come first served basis.
2.6 Goodies bag will be distributed to each player at the point of reporting to the officials’ counter on the first day of the tournament.

3.0 Format

3.1 There are five events and they shall be played as follows:
3.1.1 Mixed Doubles
3.1.2 Men Singles
3.1.3 Women Singles
3.1.4 Men Doubles
3.1.5 Women Doubles
3.2 Knock-out system will be played throughout the tournament.
3.3 The format will be played on a best of three (3) sets of 21 points each for all games.
3.4 Scoring of points will be based on the new system of 21 points issued by IBF.
3.5 Break time between each set change-over will be 60 seconds.

4.0 Attire & Equipment

4.1 All participants MUST be properly attired (T-shirt, shorts / track bottom & sport shoes).
4.2 All participants are to bring their own equipment.
4.3 Shuttlecocks will be provided.

5.0 Commencement of Match

5.1 All participants must report to the official counter fifteen (15) minutes before the match. Failure of which he/she will automatically be considered as given a walkover.
5.2 A five (5) minutes “waiting grace period” will be given for participants who have reported but have yet to turn up for the match upon calling.
5.3 After the “waiting grace period” has lapsed, he/she will automatically be considered as given a walkover.

6.0 Others

6.1 Any protest could be made to the Officials / Organizers. Any request for postponement of match could also be made to the Officials / Organizers. Decision made by the EXCO of SUN-U Badminton Club is final.
6.2 The Organizer will appoint neutral umpires for the duration of the tournament. The Umpires’ decisions are final as far as the rules of the game are concerned.
6.3 The Organizer will also provide two (2) linesmen for each match.
6.4 All participants MUST make sure the MPH is kept clean at all times.
6.5 Any other matters concerning the tournament not covered for in the Rules shall be left to the discretion of the Tournament Committee whose decision shall be final.
6.6 The prized will be awarded to the Champion, First Runner-up and Second Runner-up.
6.7 The Organizer will not be responsible for any loss of property or injury sustained during the duration of the tournament.
6.8 The Organizer reserves the right to make any necessary changes deemed fit from time to time to ensure the tournament runs smoothly.
6.9 All participants must provide with their own refreshment and first aid.
6.10 IBF rules apply.
